In the debut episode of the UCOPS Podcast, Kent Loux, President of the Seattle Police Officers Guild, joins Sean to discuss SPOG’s fight to restore Seattle’s CCTV camera system. After sustained pressure from SPOG, the union’s war of ideas broke through on social media, generating more than 1 million views and forcing a broader public conversation about safety, accountability, and Seattle’s need for effective crime-fighting tools. Mayor Katie Wilson ultimately reversed course and turned the cameras back on. Kent breaks down how SPOG pushed the issue, why the cameras matter, and what this victory means for public safety moving forward.
